Writing Tips and Writerly Musings

About the show

Welcome!

If you want to hear writing tips from the big names, the medium names, and everyone else, look no further.

As a blogger, vlogger, and unpublished fantasy author, I am addicted to attending all the writing panels a person could possibly attend at a convention. We're talking attending upwards of 25 hours of panels in 3 days.

Fortunately for you? I love sharing my copious notes.

But, I also get real. I share my struggles, my failures, and... hopefully, my writing successes.

Thanks for listening.

There’s a writing skill that many novelists struggle with. It’s something that read-a-chapter-a-month critique groups often miss: Pacing.

We all know that you need to start off with an inciting incident — at least by the end of the first chapter. But after there, it can get a bit fuzzy.

I never thought it would happen to me. I was arrogant and short-sighted.
I thought writer’s block was censoring out bad writing (you know, like rough drafts), an inability to apply butt-to-seat, or thinking you’re going in the wrong direction but not knowing the right one.
I didn’t think the blank page could scare me until I decided it was time for me to try something new.
    Now? I understand.

Tips For Sustaining Tension In Your Writing

    May 24th, 2021  |  Season 2  |  7 mins 40 secs
beta-reading, books, critique, writers, writing, writing tips
